Transmission Fluid Dexron 2 is a multipurpose automatic transmission fluid for automotive vehicles. It also has applications in many manual transmissions including Ford MT75, as fitted on Modern Transit vans.

The automatic transmission is one of the most complicated mechanisms in modern automotive engineering. It consequently requires complex fluids for efficient operation. Rye Oil’s transmission fluid is manufactured from high quality solvent refined base oils, specially selected additives and friction modifiers. Therefore it produces a lubricant with excellent oxidation stability and frictional characteristics.

This product is a Transmission Fluid Dexron 2 as a result this facilitates automatic transmissions, torque converters, power assisted steering systems and similar systems where Dexron 2 is specified.

Background Transmission Fluid Dexron 2

Originally, GM associated the DEXRON name exclusively with automatic transmission fluids, though they later released DEXRON gear oils and other lubricants under the brand. GM produced the original Dexron transmission fluid in 1968. Over the years, Dexron-II, Dexron-IIE, Dexron-III, and the current Dexron-VI have supplanted the original fluid.

GM has upgraded the Dexron specifications over time, and newer fluids are generally—though not always—backward compatible with previous versions. As a result, you can sometimes substitute older versions with the new fluid. However, engineers have not yet proven Dexron-VI suitable or necessary for all applications. Consequently, a strong market remains for fluids that meet the earlier specifications.
