Engine flushing oil is a low viscosity SAE 20W monograde oil formulated using the highest quality mineral base oils and detergent/dispersant additives.

Description

Engine Flushing Oil

Engine Flushing Oil is a low viscosity SAE 20W mono grade flushing oil. It is formulated using the highest quality mineral base oils, detergent’s and additives. It can be used in petrol & diesel engines as well as hydraulic systems and compressors.

Once you have a new filter in place. Fill with Rye Oil’s engine flushing oil. Then run the engine at a fast idle for about 20 minutes. Drain all this off and replace the oil filter again, refill with a Rye Oil Ltd engine oil found in our shop.

Additives vs Engine Flushing Oil

The difference between using additives in your engine or hydraulics against using Rye Oil’s flushing oil comes down to viscosity and chemistry.

Rye Oil’s product is an extremely thin oil that effortlessly enters partially blocked, narrow passages. In contrast, adding additives to your existing oil does not significantly change its viscosity, which prevents it from properly cleaning out those narrow engine passages.

Because we blend the lubricants ourselves, we can offer a non-detergent flushing oil upon request prior to purchase. You should choose a non-detergent flushing oil for engines or machinery containing phosphorus, bronze bearings, or white metal parts. Using a detergent flushing oil in that situation causes a chemical reaction that eats away at those components.

Significant advantages:

  • Removes Sludge and Carbon Buildup. Over time, degraded oil forms sticky sludge and hard carbon deposits on engine components. Flushing oil dissolves these contaminants so they can drain away freely.

  • Prevents Fresh Oil Contamination. A standard oil drain leaves up to 10–15% of old, dirty oil trapped in galleys and valleys. Flushing removes these residual pollutants, ensuring your new engine oil stays clean.

  • Frees Stuck Piston Rings and Valves. Carbon crusting around piston rings can cause them to stick, leading to blow-by and loss of compression. Flushing oil helps loosen these deposits, restoring proper ring seating and valve operation.

  • Unblocks Narrow Oil Passages. Microscopic oil galleries supply oil to critical components like turbochargers and camshaft bearings. Flushing removes blockages in these tight passages, preventing oil starvation and premature mechanical failure.

  • Prepares Engine for Viscosity/Type Changes. When switching between oil formulations (e.g., conventional mineral to synthetic) or taking over a poorly maintained vehicle, flushing sweeps away incompatible residues and old chemistry.

  • Restores Fuel Efficiency and Engine Performance. Removing internal drag caused by heavy sludge lets moving parts travel with less friction, improving overall throttle response and fuel economy.

Once the flushing oil has done its job see our shop for the correct engine oil for your vehicle
