Book Signings

Book signings and the opportunity to have conversations with authors have long been a feature of War and Peace and it is no different for 2016’s show.  You can find them in the Ca
semate UK Book Signers’ Pavilion next to the Victory Marquee.

At War and Peace we’re proud to showcase authors and their featured works each year. In 2014 we were delighted to link with Casemate UK, a major specialist publisher and book distributor in the UK, European and Commonwealth markets.

It is not just authors and books published or distributed by Casemate that will feature in our pavilion. We welcome authors of any relevant book to promote themselves at War and Peace – so if you’ve written about any element of military or civilian history from the past century do get in touch; we’d love to hear from you!

So come along at War and Peace and meet the authors and get your book signed – even if you already own it!

As we receive confirmation of authors we will add them onto this page.

We have broadened the range of authors and titles available but ensured they are relevant to our hobby and interest. If you have any ideas or suggestions for authors for us to approach for 2016, please email bill@warandpeacerevival.com.

Displays

Look out for tanks, artillery, armoured and amphibious vehicles, cars, Jeeps, bicycles and motorbikes, classic cars, emergency and commercial vehicles – and lots more.

Living History scenes will provide a unique picture of life in conflict with depictions from WW1 to the present – see t
he British living in trenches, GIs in Vietnam, Russians relaxing with an accordion after a hard day in battle, or Germans plotting their next moves! At all times our re-enactors will adhere to a strict moral code in their displays.

For the modellers, an extensive display of some top class models
will be on display in the Model Hall, bringing enthusiasts from around the world – and the craftsmen are always willing to share their knowledge and experience. For modellers, The War and Peace Revival is a unique opportunity to see the full-sized versions of their models just by walking outside!  See the displays from 2014 by clicking here.

Other offers will also be available at the show for you to take advantage of. Find them in the trade stands area to the rear of the Home Front section.

Aircraft

The War & Peace Battle of Britain Experience will be a prominent exhibit with its full-sized replica Spitfire, Hurricane and Me 109. Attended by a superb group of RAF and ATA re-enactors who give incredible authenticity, these planes have attended many air shows and events this year and the Spitfire has been used as an educational tool in schools, accompanied by a genuine WW2 Spitfire pilot.

Gaze skywards and watch as the Spitfire, Hurricane!  The skies above you at Folkestone Racecourse would have seen regular aircraft battles back in 1940, so transport yourself back to those days and imagine what it would have been like.

Arena

Arena actions starts at 10am each morning and finishes at approximately 5pm.

A full itinerary of the Arena events will be in the programme which you will be able to either purchase in advance at a discounted rate of £3.50 or buy one on the day at £5.  Please note that the programmes are only available on the show days and cannot be posted out before the show.

Home Front

A dedicated area to show what life was like away from the barracks and the battlefield.  Home Front re-enactors and demonstrators will show the hardships endured by both men and women left behind.  Civilian vehicles peace-time activities and re-enactors will all combine to create a vision of the social backdrop against which several 20th Century wars were fought.

Trade Stalls

Trade stalls will give collectors and shoppers the opportunity to browse through marquees packed full of treasures including militaria, antiquities, vehicle parts, books, memorabilia, clothing and uniforms and all manner of essential finds for the discerning enthusiast – everything from a shirt button to a tank!  A list of traders attending will be posted here in the next few weeks.

Vintage Market Place

In 2013 we created a fabulous Vintage Market Place where you could shop till you dropped among original vintage and retro clothing, home wares and memorabilia boutiques. This was also the place for many hair and make up demonstrations – the Hairaid Shelter worked with the team in the V Marquee on the makeovers and were doing demonstrations in the Vintage Market Place. Edelweiss Vintage Hair offered a prize of a hair do.

STYLE SPECTACULAR!

There will be a “best dressed” competition each day with winners selected from members of the public by “scouts” who will choose people on the basis of style, elegance and/or authenticity. Winners will receive a pair of tickets to either the Jive Aces evening or the Sticky Wickets and his Swing Band Dinner & Dance – so start planning your outfits now, or check out our fabulous traders in our brand new Vintage Market Place for your prize winning outfits!
