Butane 4.5kg Gas Bottles are the perfect choice for powering smaller indoor heaters. These medium bottles are also handy for cooking in caravans and on camping trips in the warmer weather.
Don’t forget! Butane freezes at -2°C and below, so it’s important butane gas is not used or stored outdoors as temperatures begin to drop in Autumn & Winter. If this is the case you need to be using Propane.
Use your 4.5kg Butane Gas Bottle for:
- Portable heaters (indoor heaters)
- Cooking and heating, whilst caravanning & camping, during the warmer months
For reliable and safe usage of your butane bottle, you’ll need a 21mm clip on regulator.

Differences Between Propane and Butane:
Boiling Point
Boiling point is the main difference to take into account. The boiling point of propane which is much lower than the boiling point of butane. Propane stores better and will continue to vaporize from liquid to gas in much colder temperatures than butane. This quality makes propane a better choice for homes with outdoor storage. This also makes propane a better choice for commercial operations because the LPG will continue to function in colder climates.
Cost
Propane produces more heat than butane and is more efficient in combustion, which means the overall butane vs propane cost is lower when it comes to propane.
Uses
Butane is more commonly used as a refrigerant, a propellant, or to fuel portable heaters and cooking stoves. Propane is more commonly used for grilling, heating, powering commercial kitchens, cooking, and as an alternative fuel source.
