Description

Tung Oil contains no solvents, driers or other additives.

The Vernicia fordii produces a seed which, when pressed, is used to make pure natural Tung Oil. This gives a superior finish to linseed oil, which tends to darken with age. It has a smooth clear, low sheen finish while penetrating and nourishing wood, before sealing and providing a water resistant barrier.

Known for its long-term elastic properties, Tung Oil is able to move and flex as wooden surfaces and furniture expand and contract with changing temperature.

You can apply tung oil to almost any wooden surface. This include’s interior and exterior furniture, skirting boards, gates, children’s play areas, food preparation areas etc.

When applying to new wood we would recommend using a thin mixture initially. Firstly to aid absorption into the wood, this mixture can be thinned 50% with white spirit. First of all allow the oil to penetrate for 20-30 minutes before wiping off any excess with a lint-free cloth. Then for subsequent applications the mixture can be applied more heavily.  Regardless of whether using the oil inside or out make sure to use 3-4 coats per application.

Tung Oil naturally has a low sheen finish. Use a very fine grade (000) wire wool to buff the finish out after drying.

Tung Oil contains no added driers as it is a all natural product. Allow 1-3 days between coats.

Important:This product will bring out the natural colour of the wood. Always test the product on an inconspicuous area to ensure satisfaction.

NOTE: ALLERGY ADVICE: Nut Extract. May cause allergic reaction.
