Description

Decking Oil / Cedar Treat/ Cedar Cladding Oil

Many names, one product.

Good solvency properties with high oxidation stability.

If you have bought this product before, you may now notice that the treatment has an orange odour – This is the new anti-mold additive we have started to use.

  • Oil treatment for all untreated softwoods.
  • DMSO extract according to IP 346 (Polynuclear Aromates) less than 3.0 %.
  • To treat cedar cladding to extend its life and protect the colour.
  • The product is a light tan colour when in the can which will leave a clear matt finish.
  • Excellent UV Protection.
  • No pealing, flaking or blistering.
  • Dirt resistant.
  • Help reduce algae and fungi attacking the wood.
  • Will bring out the grain and give the wood a wet look.
  • Great decking oil.

Decking Oil / Cedar Treat penetrates deeply into timber surfaces and, in a similar way to bark, attaches to the wood capillaries providing protection against extreme climate conditions. This product is designed for use on softwood timbers. Cedar, Larch, Pine and lots more. It is not suitable for timbers which contain tannin’s, such as oak. Cedar Cladding Oil is the ideal finish for cladding, doors, windows and other exterior joinery.

This cedar treatment prolongs the life of the wood keeping the wood supple. Our treatment will help prevent stopping cracking, splitting and discolouring. Rye Oil Ltd.’s decking oil is a clear product that wont effect the original colour of the wood.

Application of Decking Oil

While one coat should do the job, it does depend on the porosity and age of the wood. Application can be hand bushed, sprayed or dipped. If the wood has already been varnished or waxed the treatment won’t work, however, it is fine to be used on pressure treated timber.

Rye Oil Ltd suggests that for best results reapplication should take place every 3-4 years.

This treatment is also used as a hard wearing pine decking oil.

The reason for the introduction of the product is to replace Texnap 22 as an alternative wood treatment.

Coverage is 4.5 Square Meters per litre.

Multi Use with great results

I bought this oil to spray on a newly built Thermowood Clad Workshop. The oil is very easy to apply and has given the workshop a fantastic finish which has been commented on by many passers by. After a conversation with Rye Oils man John I have now used this on my Outdoor Wooden Furniture as well as my Decking and Pergola, again with excellent results. This oil is easy to use, very economical with great coverage and above all an excellent finish. Verified purchase.

Forget normal deck oil.

I was skeptical in the beginning after using a well known oil for many years. Thought I would give it a go and WOW! Their is not much on the internet if you are looking for reviews but please take from me this product is just the same and better than the normal shop brands. I used on a typical pine deck and the colour is similar if the deck has been rained on. The oil seems very similar to danish oil but does not leave a yellow tinge. Highly recommend! Verified purchase.

Great results

This oil was recommend by a friend I have to say I was not disappointed . It goes on very well and really shows up the grain of the wood on our decking. The decking is looking nice and shiny but non slip. We have ordered another 25 litres as the wood really soaks it up, we have applied three coats but going to apply another coat. Would I recommend this product? yes I would,  have passed the name on to a lot of friends . Verified purchase.

Excellent product. Have used other penitrating oils on my cedar deck over the past 5 years and although they all applied nicely the colour would fade quickly and within a few months the deck would look tired. Cedar treat has now been on my decking for the past 2 months and can happily report the fade is minamal and water just beads off. For the price I don’t think you will find anything else anywhere near as good, I was paying £60 for 5ltrs of the other product. Have also used on a 5 year old previously untreated fence with excellent results. Looks so much better than cheap wood stain

We had a large area of decking installed over the winter of 2017/2018 and after the scorching summer of 2018, it was already looking dry and parched by August. I bought a 25 litre container and applied 3 coats to one part of the decking and 4 coats to the other. It was an economical purchase and it was easy to apply and left a good finish with the grain of the wood really showing up – especially after starting to look grey and parched from the hot and dry summer. It took a while to fully penetrate and soak through but it is evident after the first rainfall that it will protect the wood very well indeed. I am pleased to have found this product.

Well what can I say…..I have tried the rest and this is definitely the best.
I don’t normally do online reviews but this is the best I’ve used,I haven’t oiled the deck for a couple of years and it looks great just after one coat….I would recommend this deck oil to anybody.

Excellent product, delivered in 2 days to Scotland. New decking so gave it two coats, decking looks great and after some extremely heavy rain the water is sitting on or running off so the oil is doing it’s job. Considering the price for 25 litres of this to what you would pay for 5 litres from a diy store this is a bargain, would definitely recommend and purchase again.

Bought 25 litres of this about 5 years ago to re coat my decking. Having jet washed the decking I applied the oil with a roller. The oil was easy to apply and after only one coat gave the timber an impressive look. Applied the same treatment again 3 years ago and again this week. The oil has not deteriorated over 5 years and I am so pleased with the performance and the finish. A great product at an affordable price

This is great stuff. Recommended by a friend and so glad I took his advice. Applied to my new decking and it looks great, also applied to my gazebo timbers and also looks the part. Definitely recommend. Delivery was superfast to Glasgow.

Just used Rye decking oil, to oil my large fence with a spray gun, 15 6×6 featherboard panels, it looks stunning, bought the 25ltr, coverage is excellent, and took no time at all with a gun. I was apprehensive about this oil, when you think you need to go with the known brands, but I am so glad I did.
It also went much further than I expected, plenty to do again and again

26/7/21 applied this product to our new fence. 10/10, finish is great. Couldn’t be more happy. Will be buying again when need to reapply. Most cost effective product I could find when shopped around and is value for money.

Excellent oil. Have used it for garden shed and large amounts of close-boarded fencing. Works brilliantly – though I haven’t managed to master the use of a sprayer or roller !)

This stuff is awesome, I’ve been after something like this for years so my decking and fencing would look more natural, I like how it shows the wood grain and knots, I’m using this oil now on my decking, pergola and fence, and it’s so easy to use. Won’t be going back to the water based big brands again, having to redo year in year out, and they never last. I purchased a 5ltr of this oil to try, but will now be ordering a 25ltr. Value for money, if you want your wood to look natural and to have that wet look then I can’t recommend this oil enough.

I never right reviews but it was a must for this product being the clear decking oil.

I have had 3 extremely large decking areas in my time where my current decking is over 130m2.
I have to express that this is the BEST oil I have used in my 15 years having decking.

I have previously struggled year after year spending vast amount of money using what I was told and thought being the best product on the market which is the leading brand until I come across Ryeoil for decking.

Having gone for the clear decking oil, I have to admit there is a strong lingering oil smell which lasts some weeks.
However, once totally dried in the hot sun and after a few rain pours or plain water washes, the smell soon reduces and the worry is gone.
I was extremely worried when the oil was applied as it was darker than expected up until it began to dry which takes some days.

The final result is a fantastic harvest gold sheen finish and it looks AMAZING to which I hope I get 2-3 years without touching it and just general maintenance.
